Bible Study: The Chaos Plan – Lesson #8 (last in series)

Lesson 8:  How Do We Deal With All This?

The information that we have been dealing with in this series of lessons can be terrifying, considering that it appears as if WE are the generation who will have to face the culmination of these things.  However, God’s Word has a lot to say to us about how to face these times with courage, righteousness, and strength.  We CAN continue to be a valid witness for Christ and His Gospel in the “end times”, but we have to make sure that we are following God’s Word and doing it His way.

Revelation 12:10-11

10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

In Revelation 12:10-11, we are told specifically how the saints during the “tribulation” period overcame Satan.  The Blood, their testimony, and by not fearing death; these are the weapons that defeat the enemy.

Let’s look at each one in detail:

The Blood of the Lamb: These saints are truly saved, and redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.  Theirs is not a “social” salvation, or simply following some ritual; they have a living and powerful relationship with Jesus Christ by virtue of the Blood.

The word of their testimony: They were living lives of holiness, so that “the Accuser” had no legitimate claim to slander them before God or the world.  We all know that we “mess up” occasionally, but God has made provision for that to be dealt with IMMEDIATELY by grace (See 1 John 1:8-10).

No fear of Death: The fear of death is the “handle” that Satan uses to jerk us around, and to keep us under his thumb.  When we truly live in the power of salvation and resurrection, death holds no fear for us, and that “handle” is removed.  See Hebrews 2:14-15.

Ephesians 6:10-18

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints”

Why do soldiers and police who know that they are entering “combat zone” wear body armor?  Because they know that there is a good chance that they will be shot at.  If we KNOW that we have an enemy (Satan and his minions) who is seeking our destruction, and that we are entering the time of open warfare (spiritually), why would we fail to make constant use of the armor that God has provided?

2 Timothy 3:1

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:”

2 Timothy 2:3

You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 4:12-16

12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. 14 If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters. 16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.

We must heed the warnings of Scripture.  We are told repeatedly that Christians WILL face troubles and tribulations because we are IN this world, but we are not OF this world any longer.  See John 15:18-21

Matthew 24 (selected verses)

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.

11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.

23 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand.

26 “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it.

Do not be deceived by the lies of false gospels, false prophets, or false “christs”.  EVERYTHING must check out with ALL of Scripture before we place any credence in it.  Remember, Satan is the “father of lies”, and they are his favorite weapon to use against you.  How do you defeat lies?  With TRUTH.

And lastly, hold on to the HOPE of the Gospel!

Hebrews 6:13-20

13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, 14 saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.” 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 16 For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute. 17 Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, 18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.

19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, 20 where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

1 John 3:1-3

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
