Bible Study: The Book of the Revelation – LESSON 19

Calvary Bible Church Bible Study

The Book of the Revelation

LESSON 19:  Chapter 21

Vrs     21:1              Verse 1 of this chapter is to be connected with 20:11 (see 2nd Peter 3:13).  Earth and heaven will be completely purified. During the Millennium the earth is renovated (Isaiah 35:1; Matthew 19:28 [“regeneration” in this text has nothing to do with spiritual matters, but with the renovation of the earth]).  This new universe will be populated with redeemed, cleansed souls. Righteousness suffers now (the godly suffer, 2nd Timothy 3:12); in the Millennium it will reign (Isaiah 11:9; 32:1); in the eternal state it will dwell (2nd Peter 3:13). John indicates that there was no more sea. This is a symbolic language statement regarding the end of human political and national separations.  Instead, there will be ONE people, living in an absolute theocracy. Continue Reading Here

LESSON 18:  Chapter 20

This chapter serves as a Continental Divide of Scripture.  Premillennialists (also known as chiliasts from the Greek word for 1000) use a single interpretive principle and find in this vital chapter that, after the visible coming of Christ in chapter 19, He will set up His earthly kingdom and reign with His saints for a thousand years, while Satan is confined to the bottomless pit.  Continue Reading Here

Bible Study: The Book of the Revelation – LESSON 17

Calvary Bible Church Bible Study

The Book of the Revelation

LESSON 17:  Chapter 19

Vrs     1–2               It is after the doom of mystical Babylon (after these things—see the same Greek wording in 4:1), fully detailed in chapters 17–18, that the invitation to rejoice in 18:20 can be fulfilled. Those participating are indicated only as much people (a great multitude in vrs. 6). There is no profit in seeking to particularize here, when the designation is so broad. It is all the redeemed in heaven, including the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures (vs. 4). The rejoicing begins with the word Alleluia, which occurs four times in this chapter (vrs. 1, 3, 4, 6).  It is a transliterated (not translated) Hebrew word, found no other place in the New Testament. In fact, even in the Old Testament, especially in the book of Psalms, it is correctly translated “Praise the Lord!” It is thus interesting that four times in the Revelation the Hebrew word (actually two words) should be found. It is indeed a beautiful word known worldwide, which needs no translation.   Earth knows much of blasphemy against God and His blessed Name, but heaven gloriously rings with His praises. Three attributes of God are singled out for acclamation: Salvation, and glory, and honor.   Commentator William Barclay has well: “Each of these three great attributes of God should awaken its own response in the heart of man, and these responses taken together constitute real praise. The salvation of God should awaken the gratitude of man. The glory of God should awaken the reverence of man. The power of God is always exercised in the love of God, and should, therefore, awaken the trust of man. Gratitude, reverence, trust—these are the constituent elements of real praise”.    Continue Reading Here

LESSON 16:  JUDGMENT ON BABYLON. 17:1–18:24 (part 2, chapter 18)

This chapter carries on the subject of God’s judgment on Babylon.  Since the church is the Bride of Christ and a city, the New Jerusalem (see 21:9–10), there is no valid reason to deny that the harlot Babylon is a city (cf. 18:10). It is proper to think of Babylon in chapter 17 as a vast religious (ecclesiastical) system (vrs. 2, 4, 6), and also in chapter 18 as a huge interlocking commercial system (vrs. 3, 11–17). The present chapter pictures the doom of so-called civilization in its social and commercial aspects. Civilization ever since the time of Cain has followed a path apart from God.  Continue Reading Here

LESSON 15:  JUDGMENT ON BABYLON. 17:1–18:24 (part 1, chapter 17)

That the theme of Babylon is an important one in the Revelation can be seen from the fact that the Spirit of God devotes two chapters in this essential book of prophecy to the subject.  From Genesis 10:10 (Babel is from the Akkadian Bab-ilu, gate of God), which is the first mention, to 18:21, which is the last reference, this subject of biblical city and its impact upon the spiritual realm is given extraordinary coverage.  All the  major prophets (Isaiah-Daniel) have important disclosures concerning Babylon.  Isaiah refers to the city thirteen times, Ezekiel, seventeen times, but Jeremiah most of all with one hundred and sixty-eight references.  In the Revelation, besides chapters 17–18 which are entirely devoted to the subject of Babylon, the first occurrence of the word is in 14:8, the second, in 16:19.  Both passages briefly indicate the fall and doom of Babylon.   In a true sense, chapters 17–18 are an elaboration of 16:19. LESSON 14:  The Seven Vial Judgments, 15:1 – 16:21

The chapters now under consideration form a unit that follows logically after chapter 11, giving the third series of the judgments of God.  Undoubtedly, the vial judgments take place in the Great Tribulation in its last stages. The implication seems to be that they will transpire in a very brief period of time. They will be both rapid and severe.  Also, since they cover the entire earth, the Rapture of the Church must have taken place before the vials begin, since the redeemed are not subject to the wrath of God. The Book of the Revelation

LESSON 13:  Chapter 14

Chapter 14 is the sequel (and God’s answer) to the wickedness of the persons in chapter 13. God intervenes in grace and judgment. As stated earlier, chapters 12–14 form a series of their own and are placed between the trumpet and vial judgments, intending to emphasize the individuals who are prominent in the end time.

The Lamb and the 144,000

Vrs     1–5               “And, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion.”  All the persons mentioned in verse 1 have appeared before in the book. The Lamb is Christ, so designated by John as the favorite description for the Savior.  “A hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.”  The Father needs no explanation. The 144,000 are undoubtedly those of chapter 7, the godly witnesses, sealed and marked out for God.  Mount Zion, is the literal city of David (Jerusalem). Continue Reading Here

LESSON 12 – The False Prophet and the Mark

Chapter 13:11-18   The Beast from the Earth.

The first beast comes from the sea, symbolic of the nations in turmoil; the second has his origin from the earth (or land), indicating one of two things (depending on the interpretation that is given to “earth” or “land”).  If the term is correctly translated as “earth”, then it would indicate that this second beast comes from something more stable or solid than the “sea” of the first beast.  This could easily indicate that the second beast will arise from the RELIGIONS of the world, since religion has lasted longer than any nation, kingdom, or political system in history.  On the other hand, if the word is translated as “land”, it would be a reference to the Land of Israel, which would indicate that he is of Jewish biological descent.  Thus, he would arise from the Land of Promise and will falsely claim to be of the nation of promise and the promised Messiah. The Book of the Revelation

LESSON 10:

THE SEVENTH TRUMPET (THIRD WOE). 11:15–19.

vrs     15                Verses 15–18 return to the trumpet judgments, last dealt with at 9:21.  Verse 19, it is generally agreed, belongs to the next chapter and the additional details that follow in the subsequent chapters. The seventh seal and the seventh trumpet are similar in that no judgment is directly announced under them (8:1; 11:15–18). Nothing is spoken of as coming from the sounding of the seventh trumpet; it is wrapped in silence. But loud voices in heaven have a vital declaration to make before the details of the last trumpet are revealed in the seven vials (bowls) of wrath in chapter 16. The heavenly announcement proclaims that the kingdom of this world (Greek “basileia” is singular, as in the New American Standard Bible, not plural as in the AUTHORIZED VERSION) has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ.  This goes along with the idea that the scroll with the seven seals was a “title deed” that is now transferred.  The seventh trumpet does not bring in the kingdom; it only shows its proximity. The kingdom should be in the singular, because under earth’s final sinister political leader there will be an amalgamation of all kingdoms into one universal kingdom. Christ’s reign will be eternal. If His rule is eternal, then how can it be a thousand years, millennial reign? He rules a thousand years (20:1–7) IN TIME to vindicate and execute God’s purposes for earth, as well as to fulfill certain promises made to Israel and to the Messiah; then that kingdom is merged into the eternal kingdom. Verse 15 speaks of the kingdom anticipatively, as a preview; the actual realization is to be seen in chapters 19–20. Continue Reading Here

LESSON 11

Chapter 13:1-10  The Beast From The Sea:

John continues to introduce the chief participants of these final events, adding two more to those given in chapter 12.  A study of the Book of Daniel, chapters 7, 9, and 11 is essential to understanding this vital chapter of the Revelation. In Revelation19:20 the two beasts of this chapter are designated as the beast and the false prophet. With the dragon (vs. 2), they form a horrendous “trinity” of evil that is Satan’s perversion and corruption of the True Trinity of God (see Isaiah 14:12-14).  The beasts are the chief wicked instruments of Satan, used to fulfill his plans to attempt to “conquer” the souls of men.  In these “beasts” is the culmination of the world’s desire for the amalgamation and merger of political and religious power, a combination of church and state.  This UNHOLY trinity compares to God’s HOLY Trinity as follows: Continue Reading Here

Calvary Bible Church Bible Study

The Book of the Revelation

LESSON 8:

We now begin the series of three “woe” judgements spoken of at the end of the previous chapter.  These “woes” are far worse than anything that has been seen on earth before.

Fifth Trumpet Sounds. 9:1–12.

vrs     1                  The first of the woe judgments is directed against the ungodly (see verse 4).  The star falls from heaven, the seat of authority.   Some suggest it is the Antichrist himself, but to become that specific here without further specific information is unsupportable. Why is this not a literal star?  It refers to a living person, for the work performed is that of a human or living being.  On the basis of 12:12, A. C. Gaebelein (The Revelation, p. 63; so also Seiss, op. cit., pp. 202–203) maintains it was Satan himself. If it is a false teacher, then Satan works through him, as is clear from numerous other occasions in the history of mankind. The key of the bottomless pit (abyss, in the Greek) was entrusted to him. The Person and Ministry of The Holy Spirit

Lesson 6:  Spiritual Gifts  Part 2 – The Functioning of the Gifts

The Holy Spirit is seemingly the least understood of the members of the Trinity.  Although many churches in the modern era TALK about the Spirit, the vast majority of them focus on the “power” and the “gifts”, rather than the Person and Ministry of the Spirit.  And even then, they produce a lot of unbiblical information on the “power” and “gifts” that leads to a very unbalanced understanding of what Christianity is really all about.

Hopefully, this study will help us gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 12:6-8

6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8 he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

Bible Study: The Chaos Plan – Lesson #7

Lesson 7:  The Endgame

Revelation 19:17-19 (NKJV)
17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, 18 that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh ofcaptains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.”

19 And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. Continue Reading Here

Lesson 5:  The New World Order

Revelation 13:4-8 (NKJV)
4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. 6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Revelation 13:4-8 announces worldwide Satanism and occultism, and “emperor worship” (as in the Roman empire), and direct attacks upon Christians (again, as in the Roman empire).  Worldwide government. Continue Reading Here

Bible Study: The Chaos Plan – Lesson #4

Lesson 4:  The Satanic “Pentecost”

Revelation 12:7-12 tells us of a time when Satan and his demons are cast to the earth.  Remember from the Book of Job that, even after Satan’s rebellion against God, he still had access to the Throne Room as “the accuser”.  Now he is ONLY able to be on earth, with his demons.  He (Satan) is FURIOUS, and will take it out upon the inhabitants of the earth with his demonic henchmen.  Expect to see drastically increased demonic activity, and an increase in the ferocity of that activity against people.

I use the term “Satanic Pentecost” to describe this event because the New Testament Pentecost (Acts 2) was an event where people who had been “prepared” (were already in a relationship with Jesus, either as apostles or disciples) became imbued with “power” (greek, “dynamis”, same as root word for dynamo or dynamite) in a specific way to carry out their “mission” (to live in holiness and to evangelize the world). Bible Study: The Chaos Plan – Lesson #3

Lesson 3:  The End Of All Flesh

Matthew 24:15-22 tells us that during the “great tribulation” period, the “tribulation” (trouble, misery, problems, etc.) will be worse than anything that has ever been seen before in the history of the world.  Consider everything that we have seen, just in the last one hundred years (WW1, WW2, the Nazi and Japanese atrocities of WW2, “the killing fields”, Pol Pot, Stalin, mass murders and school shootings, widespread devaluation of human life (abortion) and human sexuality (pornography and the sexualization of culture) and so much more), and then consider that this new period will be massively WORSE!  Jesus states that if God (in His mercy, and for the sake of His Church) did not put a short time limit on this period, NO FLESH WOULD SURVIVE!  Notice it doesn’t say only that no PEOPLE would survive, but that no FLESH (living thing) would survive! Bible Study: The Chaos Plan – Lesson #2

Lesson 2: Ordo ab Chaos to produce a Novus Ordo Seclorum

The Latin phrase “Ordo ab Chaos” is translated as “Order out of Chaos”, and is the “motto” of what is referred to as “The New World Order”.  This is the major clue as to what is coming in the world, and is why I have chosen to title this study “The Chaos Plan”.  The second Latin phrase is “Novus Ordo Seclorum”, which is found printed on every one dollar bill in the US, and is translated as “New Order of the World” (New World Order), but is more accurately translated as “New SECULAR (without God) Order”!  Thus we find information about the fulfillment of Psalm 2:1-3 hidden in plain sight. Bible Study – The Chaos Plan – Lesson #1

The Rapidly Approaching Time of Spiritual, Social, Political, and Military Transformation Worldwide

Introduction:

It is with a very heavy heart that I prepare this in-depth study.  Although I have been aware of much of this information for a number of years, it is only in the last few months that the final pieces have come together, and that God has lain a burden upon me to assemble it together and present it to the Church.  I say that my heart is heavy because the conclusions of this study are uncomfortable to me; especially as I consider that my first grandchild has just been born.  Even though the END of the story is the tremendous glory and victory of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ to rule and reign (Praise God!), the years leading UP TO that end will be filled with trouble and turmoil to an extent never before seen on the face of the earth.  Fortunately, God promises that, for the sake of the elect, those days will be shortened.  My faith in Christ does not waver in the least; but I must admit that I am a frail enough human being so as to desire “that this cup pass” from my family, friends, and loved ones.  However, it seems that our current generation is the one that will see the fulfillment of these things, so we must be strong in Christ, and resolve ourselves to live for Him daily, no matter the circumstances around us.
