Christian Missionaries in Russia – Larry & Judy Blanchard
We are the Blanchard’s – Larry and Judy. Russia has been our home since September 2002. Originally we are from a small town in central Kansas, where Larry worked for a major railroad.
In 1989, we sensed the Lord’s call on our lives to serve Him in full time ministry. Larry left his job as a conductor of 20 years and we moved to Missouri to attend Bible college. After graduation, we moved again so Larry could continue his studies at a seminary in the East.
It was during our years at seminary that we were first introduced to SEND International and Russia through our church’s commitment to send summer teams to Far East Russia. After finishing seminary, the Lord opened up an opportunity for us to join with one of those teams. Through this experience the Lord showed us that Russia was where He wanted us to serve Him full-time.
Our first 2½ years were spent in eastern Russia studying the language. But along with language study we were able to help in the construction of a new church building, taught an English club for nonbelievers, as well as believers, helped to evangelize of some of the surrounding villages, and taught both Sunday school and a Bible study.
In March of 2007 we moved to western Russia and are currently living in the Central Black Soil Region. We are building relationships with believers and non-believers, we coordinate short-term summer ministry teams, we teach Bible truths to a group of older deaf people, and Larry has a preaching ministry in some of the churches.
